In general it's not too easy to cram in more than two persons in a room, even though there are exceptions.
Gothenburg may have a ridiculous amount of hotels, but hostels are available as well. Information for youth hostels tend to vary, so google on hostels and Gothenburg and you should get a few helpful links.
